We have an onsite fully operational fabrication facility with highly trained technicians. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication and organizational skills. The practitioner must be eligible for Ohio state licensure. Compensation package will be commensurate with experience, including salary, health, holiday, vacation and personal time.
Job Description: The role of the orthotist and prosthetist includes, but may not be limited to, five major domains: clinical assessment, patient management, technical implementation, practice management, and professional responsibility.
Requirements
Job Duties:
1. Confer with physicians in order to formulate specifications and prescriptions for orthotic and/or prosthetic devices.
2. Design orthopedic and prosthetic devices, based on physicians’ prescriptions, and examination and measurements of patients.
3. Examine, interview, measure/cast patients to determine his/her needs and to identify factors that could affect device fit.
4. Make and modify plaster casts, or supervise technicians, of areas that will be fitted with orthosis or prosthesis, for use in the fabrication process.
5. Select materials and components to be used, based on device design.
6. Train and supervise orthotic and prosthetic assistants and technicians, and other support staff.
7. Construct and fabricate devices or supervise others who are constructing the devices.
8. Fit, test, and evaluate devices on patients and make adjustments for proper fit, function and comfort.
9. Provide complete and accurate direction and guidance to technicians responsible for fabrication of devices.
10. Instruct patients in the use of care of orthoses and prostheses.
11. Repair, rebuild, and modify prosthetic and orthotic devices.
12. Maintain patients’ records of care and service in a current and complete timely manner.
13. Show and explain orthotic and prosthetic devices to allied healthcare professionals.
14. Research new ways to construct and use orthotic and prosthetic devices.
15. Update skills and knowledge by completing online study course, and attending conferences and seminars.
