Certified Orthotist/Prosthetist

Description

  • Manage comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic patient care.
  • Conduct evaluations and assessments, design orthoses, aid in fabrication, fit and subsequently adjust orthoses.
  • Formulate treatment plans, including verification of the prescription, document functional goals, and collaborate with appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Provide education and instruction on how to use orthoses. 
  • Completes assigned tasks within the required time
  • Follow guidelines and procedures.
  • Participate in continuing education, training of residents and students, promote clinical research, and elevate the profession.
  • Create and maintain a strong working relationship with all referral sources and members of the care community.


Requirements

 

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Board Certification; credentialed by either the Board of Orthotic Certification or American Board for Certification in Orthotics/Prosthetics as a Certified Orthotist (CO), Certified Prosthetist (CP) or Certified Orthotist/Prosthetist. (CPO)
  • 3 years' professional working experience. 
  • Possess the ability to deal effectively with the individuals and groups and to adjust to difficult situations.
  • Casting and fitting of orthotics/prosthetics.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
