Company History
Stubbs Inc. opened it's doors on August 1st, 1981 under the title, Stubbs Limb & Brace. Its founders were, William V. Stubbs, his wife,Barbara A. Stubbs, and their son W. Mark Stubbs. At the time, both Mark and his father were working for another prosthetic company. It wasn’t until June 1984 when Mark’s wife, Melanie Stubbs, joined the company. She trained as a technician but over time moved to the front office as Barbara’s assistant. It wasn’t until October 23, 1997, when Melanie took over as the corporation’s secretary-treasurer.
Stubbs Limb & Brace changed its name in July of 1994 to Stubbs Prosthetics & Orthotics inc. (Stubbs Inc.) as it is known today. W. Mark Stubbs bought the company from his father in 1998.
On June 1, 1999, Stubbs opened a second office on 1809 Gunbarrel Rd in Chattanooga. A building owned by Chattanooga Bone & Joint Surgeons. After 4 years, Stubbs relocated their office to Dalton Georgia. It wasn't until September 23, 2004, when that office re-opened at 1004 Burleyson Rd., in Dalton Georgia as a “satellite” location with limited hours.
Due to the success of the Dalton, GA location, Stubbs Inc. opened a second office in Hixson, TN. Responding to the need for more space and a desire to provide a better environment for growth and patient care, Stubbs Inc. relocated it's Chattanooga office to 5717 Uptain Rd, Suite 5800 in Chattanooga, on January 30, 2007. Additionally, the Dalton office was relocated to a larger office in April 2020 to 1213 Broadrick Drive in Dalton Georgia where it provides patient care and services to the Dalton Hospital and surrounding areas.
